Strike One

May 6th, 2009

It’s time for an herb update! Yay! I had to throw away all of my herbs just now because they were infected with nasty little white bugs. My father-in-law pointed them out while quickly inspecting them. It’s a shame, but not to worry, we will be getting replacements within a few weeks.

Also he gave me some pointers. Evidently, basil needs a lot more water than I was giving it. Also, it’s probably a good idea to keep them further away from the window than I had been. So my new plants will live in my living room with the rest of the family. And most importantly, I now know to look for tiny yellow eggs on the plants when picking them out in Union Square.

I’ll keep you guys updated as things progress.

Meat and Lasers

May 5th, 2009

Those really are a few of my favorite things.

I was going to get a set of these business cards for this site before I realized that there was no order form.  Sadly, I think this is just a joke.  They don’t fit in a Rolodex because they DON’T BELONG IN A ROLODEX!

If Pepys will drink it, then it must be great product idea

April 30th, 2009

he’s only been dead for 300+ years.

Have you ever poured yourself a nice screwdriver and thought to yourself, “You know what this is missing?  Bacon!”

That’s just what the good people over at Bakon Vodka thought.  They even point out that Pepys and John Locke (no, not that John Locke, although I’m willing to bet he’d be behind this idea as well) both support their product.

Let’s see though, it’s potato vodka, with bacon in it…  we just need to spoon in some sour cream and chopped chives and we have everyone’s favorite side dish!

Julie & Julia movie trailer

April 30th, 2009

I actually saw this book at Strand the other day during my trip to the farmer’s market.  A friend of mine pointed out that there was no way The Girl and I would be in the area and not stop by.  As it turns out, we went twice.  The book looked cute, the movie cuter.  I think Meryl Streep as Julia Child is a great idea.  I think I’ll add it to my NetFlix queue now.

April 29th, 2009

Green design firm Environmentally Conscious Organization has taken cardboard pizza boxes to the next level.  Not only can you use the greasy cardboard as as a plate, but the box folds up into a half-sized storage container.

Cake Gate

April 28th, 2009

The Girl just brought this to my attention

Makes me want to go back a year and insist on having a similar wedding cake made. It would have gone well with our entrance music, the Stargate theme (without the lyrics). Not many people picked up on that.
